The Nobodies

“When a Heartless is born, the body and soul left behind are reborn into this world as a different being” (Secret Ansem Report 6). These beings are the newest enemies in the Kingdom Hearts series, but, unlike the heartless, they do not act on instinct alone. Their level thinking is on a much higher standard than the heartless, as they work together to formulate plans in order to obtain their goals. This intelligence is shown even in their attack patterns. While heartless will simply attack without any prior knowledge, these creatures will move around you, trying to steal your focus away from you. “This new threat… they have given themselves a fitting name, I suppose. These non-beings: “Nobodies” ” (Secret Ansem Report 6).

The player first encounters nobodies as Roxas in Twilight Town, where a Dusk attacks Roxas. The dusk is just one of many of the “lesser” nobodies, while others, such as Organization XIII, are higher ranking nobodies. Organization XIII has control over the lesser nobodies, sending them off to do their bidding as they see fit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Organization XIII
The Organization is made up of 13 higher ranking nobodies. Unlike the commonly fought nobodies, these individuals have been able to retain their human form. They command the lesser nobodies, and travel about the worlds, causing mayhem. Within all three games, Sora fights these nobodies, and prevails against each.

Dusk:

Organization XIII Commander: None

Items Obtained: There is a 10% chance of receiving a Twilight Shard, while there is a 2% chance of receiving a Serenity Stone.

Locations:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Twilight Town Roxas Day 1 6 Experience
Hollow Bastion First Visit 18 Experience
Twilight Town Second Visit 153 Experience
Hollow Bastion Fourth Visit 179 Experience
The Land of the Dragons Second Visit 255 Experience
Beast’s Castle Second Visit 273 Experience
Olympus Coliseum Second Visit 330 Experience
Twilight Town Third Visit 516 Experience

Strategy:
They key to dominating the already weak dusk is abusing the reaction command, Reversal. Hit the Dusk twice, and then press Triangle, activating the reaction command. Sora/Roxas will spin around the dusk, confusing the enemy, allowing you to attack twice once more. Using this strategy, the dusk will not be able to retaliate as they will always either be stunned or confused.

Creeper:

Organization XIII Commander: None

Items Obtained: There is an 8% chance of receiving a Dense Shard, while there is a 2% chance of receiving a Serenity Shard.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Dream World Twilight Thorn Battle 4 Experience
Twilight Town Roxas, Day 6 6 Experience
Twilight Town First Visit (When Sora Awakens) 9 Experience
Hollow Bastion First Visit 12 Experience
Hollow Bastion Fourth Visit 119 Experience
Twilight Town Third Visit 344 Experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 400 experience

Strategy:
Really, the creeper nobodies do not pose any kind of a threat. There is no reaction command for them, so all there is left to do is attack.

Now, if you are fighting only one Creeper, then continuously hitting the attack button will do the job. If there are a group of Creepers (or other Nobodies as well), it is better to use something such as fire, magnet or thunder magic. This way, the attack will hit multiple enemies at once, greatly reducing damage done to you.

Assassin:

Organization XIII Commander: Axel

Items Obtained: The Assassin only drop Hi-Potions, which appear 5% of the time.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Twilight Town Roxas, Day Six 15 experience
Twilight Town Third Visit 860 experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
Using the reaction command, Fail-Safe, you can destroy the Assassin and deal damage to surrounding foes. It also saves the items, munny, and HP orbs that would have subsequently been lost if you let the Assassin explode on its own.

Since the reaction command for the Assassin shows up late, it’s easier to dispose of it by a couple of keyblade whacks. The assassin likes to go into the floor, and then bring its arms to the surface and attack. When it does this, either use guard, or parry it with your keyblade. It will fly from the floor into the air, and hover there for a little bit. This is the time where you hit it countless time, taking most of its HP down, if not killing it.

Samurai:

Organization XIII Commander: Roxas

Items Obtained: The Samurai will drop Serenity Crystals 4% of the time, and Dense Gems 12% of the time.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Hollow Bastion First Visit 30 experience
Twilight Town Third Visit 860 experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
The Samurai does not like to attack too often, but when it does, it lashes out with its twin swords savagely, not letting up. If he starts to attack you, use guard, reflect, or parry its blows with the keyblade. The key to beating this nobody is to just attack before it decides it wants to slice you up. This strategy is quite simple, as the samurai does not attack that often.

If you parry the Samurai, a reaction command appears called “Dual Stance”. This reaction command slows everything around Sora and the nobody down, and your menu appears empty. Hover over the second or third space, and wait for the option “The End” to appear. If you are able to get to it within the allotted time, you will destroy The Samurai, and damage any foes in the immediate area.

Dancer:

Organization XIII Commander: Demyx

Items Obtained: The Dancer will drop Serenity Gems 4% of the time, and Twilight Stones 12% of the time.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Hollow Bastion Fourth Visit 298 experience
Twilight Town Third Visit 860 experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
Dancers are very troublesome Nobodies, both while fighting them one on one, and while fighting in a group. They only have on attack that you should look out for, and it is their most used attack (if not their only one). They grab Sora by the head unexpectedly and move around, then throw him. The damage is only done when they throw Sora, so you’re stuck watching your fate unfold. That is, if you have low HP, otherwise you might be able to survive a couple of these hits.

First and foremost, target these guys as soon as you beat a Sorcerer. Yes, snipers are dangerous, but these nobodies are even more so. After sorcerers are done with, go after these guys with everything you have. On lower levels, they are extremely annoying, as they kill you pretty quick. They attack numerous times, and it hurts. Unleash whatever you have on these nobodies.

Beserkers:

Organization XIII Commander: Saix

Items Obtained: The Beserker will drop Serenity Crystals 4% of the time, and Dense Crystals 12% of the time.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Twilight Town Second Visit 510 experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
Beserkers are tough, as they have a massive amount of HP, and they’re attacks are extremely powerful. The key to defeating them is gettingt hem to drop their hammers, and then using the Reaction Command, Berserk, to do away with them. Getting them to drop their hammers is another story.

When a berserker is about to attack, dodge, and then find a chance to get a hit in. As you get the hit in, the Berserker will be stunned and won’t retaliate. Finish your combo, and make sure you use a finishing move on them. When you do so, they drop the hammer. Now, pick it up, gather some enemies up with the “magnet” property of the hammer, and let them have it!

Sniper:

Organization XIII Commander: Xigbar

Items Obtained: The Sniper will drop Serenity Gems 4% of the time, and Dense Stones 12% of the time.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
The Land of the Dragons Second Visit 425 experience
Twilight Town Third Visit 860 experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
Sniper nobodies are pretty easy. They do not have much defense, so brutally attacking them will easily finish the job. The use of the reaction command, Warp Snipe, can destroy these pests also. In order to effectively use this Reaction Command, press triangle every time you are ordered to, and it will be knocked back towards The Sniper, causing major damage. Never save these nobodies for last, as they will hurt you. They might be easy to defeat, but they pack a punch.

Dragoon:

Organization XIII Commander: Xaldin

Items Obtained: The Dragoon nobody drops three items. Twelve percent of the time, they drop Dense Shards. Four percent of the time, they drop Serenity Gems, and one percent of the time they drop the Nobody Lance, which is a weapon for Donald.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Beast’s Castle Second Visit 455 experience
Twilight Town Third Visit >860 experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
The simplest way to dispose of a Dragoon is the use of the Reaction Command, Learn. Learn allows you to replace the attack command with the “Jump” command. The jump command teleports Sora over the targeted enemy, and then coming crashing down onto the foe, causing major damage. The problem is, you have to be close to the dragoon to use the Learn command, which can be deadly.

If you choose not to use the Learn command, attacking fast and repeatedly will eventually destroy the dragoon. These attacks can either be magic or physical, depending on what you favor. As long as you attack them before their attack connects with you, these nobodies are easy picking. This is quite easy as Sora is very fast.

Gamblers:

Organization XIII Commander: Luxord

Items Obtained: The Gambler will drop Serenity Gems 4% of the time, Twilight Shards 12% of the time, and the Nobody Guard 1% of the time. The Nobody Guard is a weapon for Goofy.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Port Royal Second Visit 485 experience
Twilight Town Third Visit 860 experience
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
Gamblers are nobodies that don’t hold much of threat, as they are weak overall. Their attacks do not do much damage, and their defense isn’t much too boast about. If you would like to deal with them quickly, just attack them with regular attacks. They will not retaliate in an alerting way, and they will be taken care of easily.

The main thing about the Gambler nobodies, is the reaction command that comes along with them. It’s like a miniature Luxord fight, but you can play it whenever you want. The gist of the game is this:

Begin Game: Watch your menu carefully, as three X’s and one O will rush through it. Once the X or O hits the bottom, it will arrive back at the top. The objective of this game is to time it so that when you press the X button, the O command will be chosen. If you did it right, munny and items may appear. If you do it wrong, you will be turned into a card, and will only be able to use the attack command. Your movement is limited, and so is you range. This form is not a pleasant form to be in.

Stop Dice: In this game, the reaction command changes rapidly from O to X. You want to hit the Triangle button at the right time, so that the O option is picked. This is easier than it sounds, as the option changes very rapidly. If you lose, Sora will be turned into a dice rather than a card. If you win, the same thing will happen as if you won Begin Game.

Sorcerer:

Organization XIII Commander: Xemnas

Items Obtained: The Sorcerer will drop Serenity Crystals 4% of the time, and Twilight Crystals 12% of the time.

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
The World That Never Was First Visit 1000 experience

Strategy:
Sorcerers are one of the most dreaded nobodies within Kingdom Hearts 2. they appear very late in the game, but when you first encounter them, they can be a handful. Their attack includes manipulating several blocks, creating different patterns with them, and attacking you. Not only are these blocks an amazing offense, but they’re the defense for the Sorcerer also. Now, a simple solution would be to use magic, right? Well, that would work, but sorcerers are immune to all magic.

So, you are limited to physical attacks. The best thing to do would be to go into a drive form, but this strategy will talk about Sora in normal form. If the Sorcerer is in the air, you’re in luck. Jump up at them, and try to attack. You’ll probably be knocked back by their attack, but the blocks will spread, giving you an open shot. Now, use Ariel Recovery, and go straight through their defense, and take them out. Depending on the level, you might destroy them in one combo, if not, just rinse an repeat.

If the sorcerer is closer to the ground, it will be a little tougher. You may be able to use the above strategy, but abilities such as retaliating slash, and any ability that allows you to use square to unleash a finishing move work well also.

Twilight Thorn:

Organization XIII Commander: None

Location:

Location Number of Visits Experience Given
Twilight Town Roxas, 3rd Day No experience

Strategy:
Twilight Thorn can be quite a hassle if you do not know what you are doing. First off, bring as many potions as you can into this battle. Even on easier difficulties, if it is your first time playing, this boss might prove to be difficult. His only weak point is the head, and sometimes the head is unreachable. At points, you must use the reaction command reversal time “fly” up to the head, and get in a combo or two. Also, Thorn might sometimes have his head close to the ground, an the reversal command will come up quite often. Follow the same strategy as you did for The Dusk (read above). Attack once or twice, then use reversal. Rinse, and Repeat.

At one point in the fight, and in the very beginning, a collaboration of reaction commands and attacks come your way. Use the reaction command as fast as possible, or else Twilight Thorn will deal a barrage of attacks, causing major damage. Overall, just keep your health up, take extreme caution, and have patience, and the boss is finished.
